Healthcare

Rural healthcare systems grapple with challenges such as a scarcity of medical professionals, limited access to specialized care, and insufficient healthcare facilities, leading to longer travel times and delayed treatments. It is only getting worse.

Internet Access - AKA Broadband

Rural internet access is often limited by inadequate infrastructure, resulting in lower speeds, higher costs, and fewer service providers, which hampers connectivity and digital opportunities for residents. Without it, rural areas are destined to fall even further behind.

Farming

Rural farming communities encounter challenges such as fluctuating market prices, high operational costs, limited access to technology, and impacts of climate change, all affecting productivity and sustainability. Add this to the encroachment of big ag, and our farmers deserve better.

Guns

Gun culture and ownership are core to rural identity. Even so, it presents challenges related to balancing responsible usage, safety education, and tradition with the vital need to prevent misuse and violence. Respecting the culture is vital, but protecting society is too.

Environmental Issues

Environmental preservation in rural areas faces challenges such as balancing agricultural practices with conservation, combating pollution from industrial activities, and managing the impacts of climate change on local ecosystems and biodiversity. Policies must protect our land.

Opioid Crises

The opioid crisis in rural areas presents severe challenges, including limited access to addiction treatment services, a high incidence of prescription drug misuse, and a lack of educational programs on substance abuse prevention. We need to do more to help!

Immigration / Border

Immigration and border issues encompass complex challenges such as enforcing security measures, managing humanitarian concerns, and addressing the legal and social integration of immigrants and refugees. We need to be both smart and compassionate.

Taxes and Society

Taxes are essential in society as they fund public services and infrastructure, support economic stability, and enable governments to meet the social and developmental needs of their communities. This can be particularly impactful in rural areas in which the tax base is limited.

Corporate Wealth

Over the past 40 years, corporate wealth and power have expanded dramatically, consolidating influence and reshaping global economies, often at the expense of increasing economic disparity and influence over political systems. This undermines the power of the people.

Infrastructure

Infrastructure in rural America faces significant needs and challenges, including aging transportation systems, inadequate broadband access, and deteriorating water and electrical utilities, which hinder economic growth and quality of life. Investment is crucial if we hope to resurrect rural life for working-class Americans.

Housing Affordability

Particularly after COVID-19, housing affordability in rural America has become increasingly strained due to heightened demand and limited supply, exacerbating economic disparities and accessibility issues for lower- and middle-income residents. Hard working Americans need and deserve homes.

Student Debt

The burden of student debt weighs heavily on rural residents, limiting their financial mobility and contributing to economic disparities by restricting access to higher education and subsequent career opportunities. We need to find ways to educate ALL Americans and not leave them financially ruined.
